Pilgrims to Makkah and Grand Patriarch of the Jews

Pilgrims to Makkah and Grand Patriarch of the Jews
According to Muslim legend, the Prophet Muhammad is the descendant of the Prophet Abraham – also the Grand Patriarch of the Jews – through his wife Bibi Hajira. They believe that a son – Ismail – was born to the couple and the Kaaba is the place where Abraham lived. Nearby is the spring – Zam-Zam – which Muslims believe originates from the rivers of Paradise and which sprung up to quench the thirst of the Baby Ismail. Pilgrims to Makkah, to this day, routinely bring back the spring’s water as a memento for their near ones who have not been so lucky to make the pilgrimage.
