An Introduction to Cambodia
Cambodia is located in the Southeast Asia between the Indochinese neck of lands. Present Cambodia still portrays the strong Khmer Empire, which was ruled during the 11th to 13th century much of what is seen now in Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. In Past years, Cambodia has been disturbed due to power and rulling  issues. In the 1990’s, the condition of the country has started to be better from previous and regained its stability after many decades. Now, Phnom Penh is the capital of the country.
When the rule was in the hand of the Khmer Empire, the total population was 4 million approximately, but after the battle in the 14th and 15th century population was reduced by 2 million. Finally, during 17th to the 19th century population of Cambodia further reduce and remain around 1 million Khmer by the mid of the 19th century. The first census was conducted on the National level in the year of 1962, after the independence and it was reported the population of 5.7 million. The population was increased with the stability in the country and reached to 13 million in the 21st century.
People, who lived in Cambodia are known as Khmer and they have been living here for more than 2000 years. The people are mainly related to agriculture and depends on the central land along the coastal areas. The Chinese and Vietnamese are the ethnic minorities in Cambodia. The Chinese were in great numbers in the Past but after the increase of Comunist, the guerrilla movement has been forced to leave the area. During the Vietnamese rule, the Vietnamese has crossed the population numbers in comparison of Chinese. Many other minorities are living in the Cambodia.
People, mostly follows the religion of Buddhism, which is a religion of Khmer people. A small numbers of people follow Christians and Muslims are in small numbers.
